How To Survive In Matriculation Programme

okayy. so, first entry of the year is on "How to Survive in Matriculation Programme " . . okay so for your information I am currently studying in one of the country's matriculation and i'm in my Semester 2. it's actually our mid-sem now and we'll be having a mid-sem exam quite soon.
anyway, before i came here, i seek advices from the senior students from our school who have already gone through matriculation programme and  excel. so now i figured my juniors would need the advice before they come here in order for them to be prepared mentally and physically.

so first thing first :

  • have a strong heart <3
  • i don't really know about other matriculation but when i first registered in mine, we have a WEEK of Orientation. and yes, it's a week long programme. we were 'trained' to wake up before 4 and sleep pass midnight. (naaa kau) it's quite stressing but it worth it. believe me ;) it was to train us to wake up early for class and sleep late because in matric, you will be burning the midnight oil.
  • one more, having a strong heart is also crucial for the first week in matric cuse you'll be experiencing 'culture shock'. you see, matriculation programme is a fast-track programme and sothe saying 'you snooze, you lose' is exactly how things are in matric.
  • next, be discipline!
  • make a timetable and follow it. learn to manage your time wisely. you can be sure that the syllabus for your first semester will be packed so you really need a schedule to manage things around.
  • use your time wisely. avoid hanging out too much. you'll ony wasting time. keep in mind, your parents did not sent you here to play. so just remember those advices your parents gave before they left you in the college.
  • be wise
  • in your lectures, some lecturer will give you notes while some don't. so be WISE! you can get those notes from other students who happened to have them. however if you still don't have the notes, fear not. lecturers will give you time to copy in the lecture hall.
*here's a tip : get a couple of some good friends and divide the task copying the notes. for example if it was chemistry lecture and you have a graph and description or diagram and and explaination in one slide, you are ENCOURAGED to divide the copying task. you can copy the diagram while you friend can copy the explaination. this really SAVES TIME ^^

  •  be dilligent
  • okay. STUDY TIPS 101 : when you finish a chapter or a subtopic, REVISE the same day you study it. some people like to compile what they've learnt and revised at the end of the week. let me tell you that this is the worst way to study (my lecturer said so). so don't be lazy to read up after class.
  • one more, when lectures gave you assignment, you MUST submit on time. lecturers will also give you marks ( Continuous Acessment) during the entire sem they teach you. so, don't ever keep athought of submitting your tasks or assignments later than the due date.
  • have the commitment
  • never skip class.  and i mean NEVER. believe me, if you do that, you're on the losing side. :) again, remember your intention going there.
  • be keen
  • pay attention on what's going around at the college. don't miss any important events or infos that is beneficial for you
  • don't stress! :D
  • ngee ~ although you heard me being so 'skema' about this study thing, there's no need to be stress about matriculation. just have fun and enjoy studying. my lecturer told me, if you memorize the maths formulae, that means you don't love maths sincerely. so my point here is, love the things you're doing. in that way, you won't feel stress at all. even physics will be fun. sometimes :D
  • lastly, don't forget to PRAY :)
  • yeah so being here you will be caught up in all the studies, staying up and stuff but never forget your prayers no matter what religion you are. in that way, you'll find peace and comfort no matter how difficult your situation is..

so  alright... there's a longgggggggg advice. some others might come up soon. have some works to do so  gotta go ! ^^ all the best to all students, God Bless !
